NoahSNerf- Team Roles

Larger-scale Nerf wars usually need teams. You can't win a battle on your own (unless you're only fighting one other person) and it doesn't usually work well when nobody on your team knows what to do. Everybody on a team needs a job to do, so here is a list of team roles from NoahSNerf (yeah... his site is pretty helpful for this type of stuff) to help you find a good role.

Assault
Assault-men are the people in the front line. They get lots of hits, and get hit a lot. They also take over bases, so generally speaking, Assault-men are the force of the team. They never let up.
The best gun for an Assault-man would probably be the Raider or the Stampede. Lots of ammo and rapid firing is all an Assault-man needs. If you need a backup weapon, I’d choose the Magstrike. Make sure you prime it before you go into battle though, because if you’re stuck in the middle of the battlefield pumping it, you’ll get shot.
The good thing about having the Magstrike as a backup is that, when you’re taking over a base, you can quickly take down everyone inside with a few shots. Another good thing is, if you’re out of ammo, you can quickly whip out the Magstrike and either distract or attack everyone around you.
Now, in order to be a good Assault-man, you have to be brave. Don’t be afraid to charge at someone with a bigger gun than you. Of course, don’t take it too far. You still have to take caution.

Defense
Defenders are the most important part of a Nerf team. They, well, defend. And, as the old saying goes, the best offence is a good defense!
The best guns for a defender are, once again, the Raider or Stampede with a Magstrike backup. It would do you good to have a Maverick on hand as well.
Obviously, if you are a defender, you’ll stay at base a lot. So, stack heaps of ammo there, because you’ll need lots, and always be prepared for a full on assault. In this case, always attack the person closest to you. Also, make sure you’ve got a good position. If you’re in real trouble, call for backup. The backup will take a bit of time to come, so try hold them off a tiny bit longer. Don’t call for backup when you’re out of ammo, because they won’t make it in time. Call only when you’ve got one third of what you started with.

Stealth
Stealth-men sneak around the battlefield, taking out opponents without being seen. Having a good Stealth-man on your nerf team is a huge advantage.
Now, the Deploy CS-6 is meant for stealth, so use a Raider/Alpha-trooper drum in it and you should be good. Have a Maverick on hand, and bring lots of ammo with you.
Three tips for being a stealth-man.
  1. Be quiet. Nothing gives away your position more than talking. (Or the sound of a Barricade RV-10.)
  2. Be invisible. (Not really. Just, make sure your opponents don’t see you.)
  3. Be accurate. (Nothing worse than having an opponent in your sight who hasn’t seen you, taking a shot and missing. Massive cover giveaway.)
Well. It’s not as detailed as the others, but it tells you all you need to know in order to be a good Stealth-man.

Sniper
Having a sniper isn’t essential, but most nerf teams have one. They hide on the battlefield and take out enemies unseen.
If you are a sniper, you’d want a Longshot primary with a Maverick secondary.
Now, if you are a sniper, you have to have a good hiding spot. A good hiding spot needs to have a backup route. If somebody finds your hiding spot, and you don’t have a way to get out, you’re dead. It also needs to be good in the sense that, if people looked, they wouldn’t be able to see you. Nothing gives away your position more than a leg sticking out from behind cover.
Also, never, and I mean never hide in trees. End of story.
Make sure that you’ve got heaps of extra ammo, because you don’t want to run out.
Now, to be a good sniper, you need to be accurate. You CANNOT miss. Have a scope on hand. With scopes though, you can only use it for horizontal aiming. Determining the height of your shot has to be done by you. Scopes are also fantastic for close range combat. (Not that you’d be doing much of it.)

Rusher
Rushers are the kamikazes of Nerf. They sprint into bases, armed with rapid firing weapons in hopes of taking out the base. In other words, they are HUGE risk-takers.
Best combo for a rusher would be a Stampede with a Raider Drum for your primary, with dual wielding Magstrikes for your secondary.
All rushers need to be brave. After all, you’re going to have to jump into bases, take on hoards of enemies, and even be a distraction. Don’t be afraid of getting pelted by foam darts.
When you’re taking down bases, you need to take the defenders by surprise. Sneak up on them, then jump inside their base while yelling something crazy. Sometimes, if the defenders aren’t ready, you’ll take them by surprise, which gives you a huge advantage. When you’re safely in, do a huge spray with the Magstrikes. When you’re out of ammo, whip out the Stampede, then start taking down enemies. When your aiming in the base, don’t make precise shots. Just aim in the enemy’s general direction. One of the shots should hit.
Another things rushers are great for is distracting. To do this, you have to stand in plain sight of your opponent, out of their range, and begin taunting. Do whatever you want, as long as this annoys them. As long as you stay out of range, and taunting so you have their attention, you’ll be fine. Well, at least, the people that used you as a distraction will.
